About Me

If Dave Halchak is reaching his audience the way he hopes, then his style could not be described in simple terms.  Pervading a wide variety of styles and sounds through his own eclectic tastes in music ranging from reggae to rock to rap and beyond, Dave Halchak enjoys the reputation as one who likes to re-invent and take risks with his music.
Halchak's entertaining, high-energy show incorporates a loop pedal, which he uses to develop his music by creating on-the-spot backing loops, vocals and even backbeats for his raps.  The loops add another dimension to his style of playing music, as it provides endless possibilites to build upon the sound -- something that is otherwise very limiting for a solo artist, playing only a single instrument.
Hailing from northern New Jersey, Dave Halchak has developed his technical, yet highly exploratory and improvisational guitar playing style by playing to his many devoted fans throughout the Northeast region from Washington, DC to the Canadian border, having played both as a solo artist and with noted touring bands: the Breadbox Band, Squirrelmaster, Maad Eye Moody, and The Dilzniks.  He has proudly shared the stage with acclaimed artists such as Steve Kimock, Allen Aucoin (The Disco Biscuits), Yonder Mountain String Band, Col. Bruce Hampton & The Codetalkers, members of Railroad Earth, Perpetual Groove, Max Creek, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Donna Jean Godchaux, Strangefolk, Ryan Montbleau Band, RAQ, Melvin Sparks, The Breakfast, U-Melt, Sam Kinninger, and the Zen Tricksters.

Dave Halchak can also be seen on the summer festival circuit, having previously played at Camp Creek, The Garden of Eden, Green Apple, StrangeCreek, Musefest, Stonehenge Music Festival, PhanPhest, Evolve 2012, Harvest Fest Celebration, Bucks County Music Fest, and Baconfest.  In 2007, Halchak along with the Breadbox Band received the distinctive honor of being included in the computer game, "The Sims 2" Seasons Expansion Pack, also featuring moe., Government Mule and The String Cheese Incident.
As his career as a solo artist develops, it is clear that the future contains many possibilities for Halchak as he forges ahead, writing new music, performing on various stages and reinventing himself while he continues to expand his craft by discovering new forms of inspiration.  His humorous nature, creative stylings and raw talent make him one performer not to be missed!
