Tofte

Torill and Olav Tofte met in 1987 and started to perform together in 1988. In 1994 they started the band "Don't mess with Alice". They participated in 2 compilation CD's in Norway in 1995 and released a maxi single CD with 4 songs in 1997. One of the songs - "Living man" - was released on a compilation CD in America - The Country Gazette - by Col. Buster Doss. In 2001 they changed band name to "Tofte" and recorded a full CD production with Trond Nagell Dahl - one of the best piano/organ players in Norway, Lars HÃ¥vard Haugen from "Hellbillies" - the best country-/country rock guitarplayer in Norway and Bill Booth (US) - mandolin /fiddle. The song "The one to pay" was released on a compilation CD in America by Comstock Records the next year. And on another compilation CD released by Hill Topper Music Group the year after that. Olavs songs have been heard on the radio in America, 10 countries in Europe and some in Australia since 1995. They have had a lot of gigs including countryfestivals in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. And they have met famous, and very nice people, like Willie Nelson, Scotty Moore, Paul Overstreet, Hal Ketchum, Steve Earl, Marty Stewart and Connie Smith and Vince Gill. They have also tried their luck with two demo productions. All this lead to meetings with distribution companies in Norway. They nearly made it!After that they wanted to take a break and do somethin' else instead of performing in bars, clubs and festivals. And during that break, God started to call their names. The result of this was a very special happening, leading to both getting baptised in 2005. And in 2007 the couple made a new demo recording at Wilma Studios in Oslo. For the first time they have recorded one song that is not written by Olav. It's "I can only imagine" by Mercy Me in addition to Olav's song "Down by the river", which you can listen to right here. This time there is no whish for being a "popstar". The goal is to sing songs with christian lyrics the Tofte way, and to talk about what God have done for this fortunate couple, and can do for everyone... for those who wants to listen..."Nite Sky Records", Ohio, USA will release "Down by the river" on their next compilation CD in 2009 ... the couple is happy and grateful that someone wants to distribute their christian songs in the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
