NetworkingAFRICA IN THE AMERICAS WORKSHOP"Africa in the Americas" is an interactive-demonstrative conference divided in two parts: The first part of the workshop is a musical-historical view of the rhythms and instruments of percussion of the african-arabian, african and european cultures that have influenced the music of the Caribbean and the Americas. It also offers a demonstration of typical african, arabian and caribbean instruments. During this time participants will enjoy a short concert and a computerized conference. Furthermore, they will be able to see and listen to a variety of rhythms and instruments of percussion that greatly influenced our musical heritage. The second part of the workshop is a practice session where everyone attending will have an opportunity to explore and execute rhythms, corporal movement exercises and percussion instruments. Everyone will be able to bring a percussion instrument. This is a four (4) hours workshop.
