Clay Statues

About Me

"This is Clay Statues...from Cardiff...there's only two of them, but they make a hell of a racket..." - Adam Walton.
"An almighty, sweaty explosion of dance, punk and gut wrenching passion, with more testosterone than a barrel of bull's bollocks" - Jason, Tantrum Records
"How a bassist and a drummer can slam a sound so massive from a twosome is beyond belief, and these guys can write a lyric too...Doz screamed his way through a blinding array of numbers familiar to those who know them, a revelation to those who don’t, as Mavis banged the drums like an anorexic on a gallon of Sunny Delight! These boys deserve support and recognition..." - Phil Dred, Photographer
"Never before have we seen an act with so much originality, anger, melody and noise mixed into one big formula..." - Plugged In Magazine
"Absolutely mesmerising...a wonderful musical beast, full of energy" - Nettie
"Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: 'Cos Clay Statues rock!!" - Doz, The Nukes/Dischordance
Clay Statues were brought to life by Matthew Davies and Dorian Richard Holmes after the break-up of their last band The Firebrand. They wasted no time not finding a guitarist. Instead choosing to fall into things headfirst, playing loud, aggressive stripped down dance-punk.
1st EP, 'When I Was Your Age Pluto Was Still A Planet' is sold out.
Special 1st year compilation 'God Bless Clay Statues' available from the band
