About Me

"If there was an official gauge of how much fun something is, Disco House would score off the chart. If there was a country in the world called Funia, Disco House would be its national anthem, as well as the name of its capital city. Everyone would be free, easy, super and gay (that's gay as in happy and fun, not gay as in lame and stupid). I was once walking down the street late one night and a hooker called to me from the curb, asking me if I was looking for some fun. 'No thanks, Miss,' I replied, pulling out a pair of headphones. 'I've got Disco House, the most fun there is.' She nodded completely in agreement. 'Word. Be on your way, then.'"
I write. A lot. For a living. About video games and house music. It seems to be a winning formula up to this point, as I love writing about gaming and I cannot go seven days straight without being out somewhere dancing to amplified four-to-the-floor.
Also, if you can answer whether you're a Dimitri from Paris or Joey Negro person with the right answer, you're immediately a friend. If you can't...we'll work on you. :)
Also, any friends requests without a message will be denied. I have enough promotional groups for cities I've never been to, enough corporate entities, and enough DJs I don't know on my friends list as it is, and I'd like to figure out why anybody wants to add my crazy ass if I don't know them. Please respect that.

My Interests

Emptying my wallet, cleaning it out, and putting everything back; Guinness; English Premiership; Serie A; AS Roma; Liverpool; FC Barcelona; Bayern Munich; San Jose Earthquakes; writing about video games but never really playing them in my spare time.

I'd like to meet:

People who aren't mouth breathers.

Music:

Hausmuzik all night long (Defected, SOLE Channel, Freerange, OM, Soulfuric, West End, and MN2S are among my fave labels), Blaze, Liquid People, Kerri Chandler, Schmoov, Phil Asher, Jon Cutler, Yukihiro Fukitomi, soulful drum n' bass (Hospital uber alles), Bugz in the Attic, older UK Garage, electro, Detroit fuckin' Techno, the occasional Dutch Trance record (calcium builds stronger bones), the Libertines, some Giorgio Moroder here and there, most hip-hop produced prior to 1998 (except UK hip-hop, Jazzy Jeff, Atmosphere, and 9th Wonder, which are jammin' now), and babymaking soul records. I could go on for hours. Journos usually do. Stop me whenever you see fit. Seriously.

Movies:

I have a B.A. in Film. Please don't ask me what my favorite movie of all time is, thx.

Television:

I wish I could pretend like I'm one of those enlightened individuals who doesn't own a TV for moral/intellectual reasons, but the truth is that I have an HDTV, but no cable, so I pretty much like drinking a lot of wine and watching nature shit on PBS in high-def every once in a while.

Books:

Isn't it funny how MySpace demonstrates either that people are trying too hard to show off that they read, or they're fully admitting that they hate to read? I'm not sure which one's worse. I'm reading Al Gore's "The Assault on Reason," as if I needed another reason to be pissed, and have begun reading graphic novels (100 Bullets, yay!) after a 18 year drought; I'm obsessed with McSweeney's and VICE Magazine. "Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs" is another great read. One day I will hopefully get unscrambled enough to submit another effort to the limited canon of books pertaining to dance music. Faves of all time include: "The Prince," "Generation Ecstasy," "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life," "Keep On Dancin': My Life and the Paradise Garage," "Brave New World," "Black Boy," "Their Eyes Were Watching God," "The Sun Also Rises," "Winesburg, OH." I also enjoy those "Best Non-Required Reading" collections because they're quirky and fun, yet lofty. My list of books I feel ashamed for not reading is larger than this list, though.

Heroes:

My mother (RIP), Tony Humphries, Larry Levan, Ron Hardy, Frankie Knuckles, Underground Resistance, DJ Spinna, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Pete Rock, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, J-Dilla, Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi, Steven Gerrard, Luca Toni, Hideo Kojima.
