John Extra is a young ambitious individual, who stays focus and continues to generate great music to perfect what he does best, and that’s Hip-Hop Music.John‘s style and songs are unique from all other. They are catchy, trendsetting, and the biggest difference is he refuses to curse (no profanity) in any of his verses. When John was younger, his mother didn’t allow any parental advisory sticker CD’s in the household. She felt that the music would be a bad example for a young man.John is a former all-star basketball player; he has been playing since the age of five. John received plenty of basketball scholarships for high school and colleges through out the country. He started rapping at the age of 16, just for fun. John started taking hip-hop music serious at the age of 18. The art of hip-hop was introduce to him by his cousin, Tone Status, who later formed a duo called A-Fam. A-Fam was an acronym for Alston Family, and they were an official group for a year and a half. John and Tone put out a local mixtape entitled “Family Matters,†which sold over 1500 copies. A-Fam performed at plenty of clubs and local community shows to promote and enhance their skills. After their scheduling issues the duo decided to go their separate ways.In early 2006, John was still determined to succeed, and created his own brand of Entertainment. He became CEO of an independent movement called GETGUOP ENTERTAINMENT (G.G. Ent.). Enhancing the label John scouted three additional artist to join the roster. D-Ville, Young Doub, and Tae are hungry indivduals who are ready to prove their skills to the world. Adding to the team is Randy "Coach†Carter from Randsom Productions, who completes their music with his heroic beats.Now completing his dynamic team, John began performing at clubs, lounges, and recreation centers getting a local buzz around the Tri-State area. In mid- March of 2006 John was chosen out of thousands to perform on 106 & Park’s “Wild Out Wednesdayâ€. His performance on the show brought him great national exposure. He received many emails from viewers, new found fans, and independent record labels.John has been featured on the radio station 106.2 Royal Radio with DJ Don Demarco of Dessert Storm/Foch Fam Entertainment. Also featured on Candy Radio www.pnc-entertainment.com with Ms. Candice. One of his singles "All Night Long" is in heavy rotation on I-tunes radio(HateMoney Radio) with Dj Bedtyme 357. John Extra has performed shows with The Clispe, Serious Jones, Dj Quik and Amg, Saigon, Uncle Murda, and Memphis Bleek. His music has been featured on plenty of mixtapes worldwide hosted by DJ Khaled, DJ Don Demarco, Maino DJ Lazy K, DJ 1Mic, DJ Kelo, DJ Rokz, and many more. In addition to that John has put out three individual mixtapes entitled Voice of Victory, P.T.I., Extra Terrestrial (E.T.).John recently completed his fourth mixtape, I‘m So Extra, due to hit the streets December 6, 2008. This mistape features collaborations with artist such as The Voice of Harlem, Shea Davis, Soul Star, Mollady J and artist on GetGuop Entertainment.Its nothing but Bright Lights and Big Cities for this young man they call JOHN EXTRA.
