El Reloj began in 1971 and released their first album in 1975. In the middle they forged their reputation as one of the best live acts of 70s argentine rock. In 1973 they released their first single, the classic El mandato/Vuelve el dÃa a reinar, with the sound of the Hammond organ of Valenti and the tremendous killer guitar of Willy Gardi. 1974 brings another classic single: Alguien más en quien confiar/Blues del atardecer, both reworked for the first album ("El Reloj"- 1975), with bigger production and more elaborated arrangements. In 1976 they released another hard rock gem: El hombre y el perro/ Camino al estucofen, and the second album ("El Reloj"- 1976) with a more symphonic oriented sound. In early 77 El Reloj split, due mainly to the ever present frictions between Gardi and the other members. In 1983 Willy Gardi managed to reform El Reloj, with non- original members and released an LP: "La esencia es la misma". The original line-up returned in 1994 with the CD "Santos y verdugos". In 1995 Willy Gardi died in a car accident. In 1998 Valenti, Espósito y Zabala returned again and released two more albums, "Hombre de hoy" (1999) and "Mercado de almas" (2002)
