About Me

Damir Tusek AKA D-Name is one of the most experienced European DJ’s. At the age of 14 Tusek started spinning at Munich (Germany) school parties. Very soon, his perfect blend of seventies disco music took him to his first professional Schwabinger Jungendklub gigs. At the age of 16 Damir’s mother freaked out realizing her son spends all of his time DJ-ing in clubs, so she sent his ass back to their homeland Croatia.Mama just helped him getting more gigs, because the laws of keeping teenagers out of nightclubs didn’t apply in that part of Europe. A year after Travolta launched his Saturday Night Fever; Damir was a new disco king in Zagreb, Croatia. Playing at the Studentski Centar under the alias DJ Dee, he spun classics like Donna Summer “I Feel Love”, or Chic “Good Times”, making his audience doing “Le Freak”. He easily rocked places like “Rupa” in -Cazma, and even had in Bosnian club's ringing his bell, so he could spin some Anita Ward flavored grooves. As the time passed, Dee’s taste progressed into Bobby Orlando’s dance floor killers like Divine “Shoot Your Shot” and Kraftwerk’s masterpieces such as “Das Model”, or “Computerwelt”.While the world was busy watching the premiere of the original “Back to the Future”, Mr.Tusek realized it’s more fun to compute, so he became a private entrepreneur, putting music on the side. Trying to repress his DJ needs with constant cash flow and family life, he thought he’d be able to stay out of clubs for a while. Ten years latter his “clubbing hunger” became totally unbearable and he decided to quit the business, returning to his roots.Since 1995 Dee was doing it again bringing Chemical Brothers’s “Setting Sun” and Fatboy Slim’s big beats to Croatian summer clubs, playing at Bura (Karlobag), Aquarius (Medulin) and Piramida (Pula). In 1999 Damir accidentally came to Astralis party in Zagreb and discovered the world of tribal dance music. He decided to call him self DJ No Name, trying the new thing once again. Just a couple of years latter he was DJ-ing on Astralis proving his skills at this famous club night. Very soon he started organizing his own parties in West-North Croatia. First he did psy trance nights called Pulse, but latter he moved to electro, techno and house nights named Contact. From XTC, Amanita and Black & White, to Downtown, Papillon and Nautilus, Damir turned the scene around and made quite a name. That’s why he changed his alias once again. In 2001 he started playing under the name D-Name, and all the doors just kept opening for him. He played at the most prestigious parties like Perfection with Jeff Mills in June and became a resident DJ of the legendary club Mungos (Kasina). Becoming a resident DJ at “Love Boat” parties, he spun all around the Adriatic coast. In 2002 and 2003 D-Name DJed on the back of Croatian Love Parade Team’s truck at the Berlin Love Parade in Germany playing for almost a million partygoers. Soon he became a resident DJ at the Panic Room in Sokol (Zagreb) and started producing his own music. D-Name is still working on finding an appropriate piece of music representing him under his own name. He sees the future of DJing in DJs performing their own stuff, instead of just playing someone else’s tracks. That’s why he does his own live PA, testing his stuff to be released.
