About Me

Who am I? Or as one of my dearest friends would say, (Ranj) “Where You Out Of?” I was born LaDonna Gail Brewer in Toledo, Ohio. My father was a minister and my mom, a stay at home mom with four girls….. Four girls who loved to sing. Daddy got the call to move to Garden City, Michigan to pastor Garden City Free Will Baptist Church. This was were it all began. We became “The Brewer Sisters”. I was three years old, long banana curls and a long home made yellow dress like the one I had seen on a Loretta Lynn album cover. I debuted at a church concert singing a Loretta song and I was bitten. I started playing piano and singing. We moved to Tennessee for another church when I was 7. Culture shock!! (to say the least). When I was 15, I saw flyers around my home town that a band, “The Larry Kirkland Band”, was coming to town. Larry, his wife Charlotte, their son Todd and little girl April Kay bought and moved to Natural Bridge Park. They played music there every weekend. They hired me!!! I was so excited. I switched from my gospel roots to country and fell in love with everything that had anything to do with country music. I worked part-time as a disc jockey at the local radio station and sang every weekend. It was there I had the opportunity to sing with and open shows for The Grand Ole Opry and The Grand Ole Opry Staff Band.I have performed (background vocals, duets, or opened shows for) with George Jones, Steve Wariner, Garth Brooks, Toni Lynn Starr, Linda Davis, Curtis Wright, Rhonda Hart, Cowboy Crush, Charlie Louvin, Johnny Russell, Jack Greene, Connie Smith, Jeannie Seely, Pam Tillis, Tammy Cochran, Anita Cochran, Tanya Tucker, Jonelle Mosser, Clinton Gregory, Aaron Loy, Becky Hobbs, Crystal Gayle, Bama Band, The Jones Boys, Lorrie Morgan, Courtney Dashe, Ricky Skaggs, Sharon White, The Whites, Del Reeves, Johnny Carver and other people you may have heard of. (If I left out someone, let me know,,,fingers are tired). After high school, I moved to Columbia , Tennessee to attend college and got a job with a “Top 40” band. I made trips to Nashville and sat in with some wonderful bands and started writing songs. I met a lot of people and was blessed with a lot of opportunities that some people never get. I was on prime time TV, making appearances in videos, singing lead & background vocal sessions and writing a lot. I got my first song cut in 1991 by Conway Twitty. Then in 1992 I had a single by “The Statler Brothers”. The there were cuts by Jeannie C. Riley, Joe Nichols, Merle Haggard, Ron Williams and more. In 2000, I had a beautiful daughter, Summer LaKay Capps. I sing to her, and her daddy, the love of my life, Mark Capps , taught her some guitar. She is learning to play the piano using “The Nashville Number System”. Now in 2007, I have a new album in the works with another wonderful friend and well kown singer. I am writing regularly , doing recording sessions and performing with the popular country road band “The Boot Hill Express”. We work regularly in the southern region. Stay tuned in for upcoming tour dates. Well, thanks for getting to know me. Feel free to write me anytime. My current album “Drivin” is still available.
