My drawings are duplicitous in nature. Line is my primary concern and obsession – the seduction in creating them, in watching them sprout and grow out from each other spontaneously, and in seeing where the absence of line is essential to the presence of line. Everything I create with line, though wholly abstract and unidentifiable, has a touch of the organic and the sub-conscious. Secondly is the juxtaposition of line and color, vibrant tones beside stark white or deep black, which are added with whimsy for the pure sake of contrast. My work flows from free-association and a love of the physical activity of drawing, making it, at heart, glorified doodling, and it is produced with the same brand of pen-to-paper simplicity.
