About Me

Well actually I'm just a person. I do sound. A lot of sound for a lot of bands. I now book Mondays at Memory Lanes as well. For the 7 years my only means of employment has been audio related, mostly recording and live sound, although I've been mixing and doing set-ups since I was about 18. I work hard, sometimes 7 days a week, doing my best to set up gear and mix bands as easily and sonicly pleasing as possible. Feed back doesn't exist when I'm around.
I've mixed rock, reggae, country, punk, hip hop, indie and every other sub genre in existence. I don't believe in cookie cutter approaches to sound. Every style is different and needs to be mixed accordingly. However one thing is true through out ; it needs to be bumping, but not in a way that it hurts your ears. Mixes should be full, yet clear, with distinguishable vocals. I've worked on large to average sized P.A's, and know how to get the most out of a system without breaking any of the components.
I also play in the band In Defence for fun. Don't let the fun part fool you, we've toured most of the eastern half of the country, released 3 7"'s, a 7" comp cd with bonus live tracks, a full length cd and 12" vinyl titled "Don't Know How to Breakdance...", a recent split 7", are on at least 3 comps and are over 100 shows in 2 years.

Band Members: Me. Tom Burt. Plus: Jason Leupiteau, Brian Herb, John Brown, Tim Clausen, Ross Neuske, Joe Holland, Michael Moore, Chad Weiss, Andy Longenson, Ben Burger, Barrie Borchers, Bruce Templeton, Dave Gardner. These guys are all amazing sound engineers who I have worked with.
Influences: I work consistently at the Turf Club, club underground and Memory lanes, and occasionally work at Big V's, Mayslacks and Lee's Liquor Lounge. I've done lots of outdoor and P.A. Setup work. I've done several block parties for bryant Lake bowl, the Melvins at Grumpy's, Cinco de Mayo(St. Paul), multiple shows at the weisman art museum, Square lake music and movies festival, Y love at the Jewish Community center, Highland Park art festival, Grand Olde Days, and the Pizza Luce block party to name a few. I also do recording at the devils workshop and do mastering at my place, Attention Audio. Hit me up. I'm very fair and the finished product is my ultimate goal.
Sounds Like: O.K. this is a crappy cell phone video of the Melvins show I just mixed. If you look closely the video and audio are slightly off, but you get the jist.
