The Abbey Of Thelema movie is inspired by real events. Filmed in St Louis, MO, this 2007 biopic profiles occultist Aleister Crowley, whose philosophy of unfettered experimentation with sex and drugs led him to set up a controversial commune based on the tenets of free will and the pursuit of knowledge. The film recounts the life of Crowley (Mike Ketcher) chapter by chapter, from his stint as a New York City painter to the 1920 founding of the Abbey of Thelema in Sicily to his eventual downfall.
