"People do die when they are street racing, and our police department does take the issue very seriously."A few more than 60 people gathered at the county Energy Resource Recovery Facility in Lorton to organize the races.The facility was not gated, according to reports.Police were tipped off by a third-party call of suspicious vehicles, and around 1:45 a.m. had blocked in the cars and charged 59 adults and two juveniles with trespassing, a class one misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and up to a $2,500 fine.Each person was released on a summons to appear in court, Broderick said.Of the 32 people that Broderick had the addresses for, 19 were from the county, the Manassas area and Nokesville.Charged were: Brandon Shouse, 19, of 9628 Norfolk St. in Manassas; Anthony Musarella IV, 18, of 7691 Visionary Court in Lake Jackson; Jorge Abad, 21, 18160 Tebbs Lane in Dumfries; Kevin Melgar, 18, of 10238 Picturesque Court in Bristow; Daniel Bowers, 20, 8728 Round Lane in Manassas; Shawn Ladia, 18, of 6100 Hillview Court in Buckhall; Terrell Murph, 20, of 9308 Michael Court in Manassas Park; Cory Phillips, 18, of 12464 Hedges Run Drive in Lake Ridge; and Michelle Handy, 20, of 2228 Grundy Road in Woodbridge.Also, Omar Omar, 20, of 15360 Lord Culpeper Court in Woodbridge; Dale Deimler, 18, of 8477 Stonewall Road in Manassas; Edward Valentin, 20, of 4406 Hendricks Drive in Dale City; David Hall, 25, of 10269 Nantucket Court in Manassas; Angel Castillo, 19, of 7982 Community Drive in Manassas; Allen Peevy, 19, of 4701 Kassel Circle in Dale City;Surat Mohan, 20, of 13730 Moccasin Court in Dale City; Donovan Cormier, 20, of 7727 Amherst Drive in Manassas; Franklin Rivera Moreira, 19, 1312 Congress St. in Woodbridge; Richard Stanley Jr., 22, 10338 Reid Lane in Nokesville.The addresses for the remaining 27 adults were not available at press time.Prince William County police said that there haven't been any recent complaints of street racing in the county and is not problem in the area."It's just such a dangerous thing to do," said Officer John Bogert, Prince William police spokesman. "It really puts the community at risk for serious injury or death."Bogert suggests racers go to a sanctioned racetrack, such as Sumerduck Dragway, "where they can do it in a relatively safe environment."
