Ashanti (aka Shants) is a 21 year-old, up and coming songwriter. In addition to her new-found love for writing songs, Ashanti is continuing her education, a junior at Marquette University, to better her creative writing skills with a pursuit of an English major and a minor in Public Relations. She is in the process of promoting positive urban music with the involvement of her local community to better the views of R&B, hip hop, and rap music. "It is possible to make good music without derogative language," says Ashanti. "It's not a prejudice toward those that do use it; it's just matter of knowing when to opt not to." Do to the positive feedback Shants has received from others in regards to her music, she plans on growing mentally and personally as an artist to gain the hearts of the world. "Music has emotional attachments. If it’s not changing someone's mood, it's tapping into their subconscious," says Ashanti. "Having someone come up to you and acknowledge that your music has impacted their life is what motivates artists' creativity. For me, my creative exploration lies in finding new ways to lyrically tell a story about [but not limited to] the complexity of love, life, and need for happiness." I believe it's definitely safe to say, 'Be on the look-out world, because Shants Superstar is on a mission to take the music world by storm!'
