Ms. Venetta B was born and raised in The Bay, which is the colloquial term for the San Francisco Bay Area. Her father came to America as a political refugee from Bulgaria and her mother is a native San Franciscan. Venetta’s first language was French and she picked up Spanish while growing up. It wasn’t until her last year of college that Venetta chose to take the plunge and pursue her desire to make passionate music. Soul music, or what is called Neo-Soul is how she characterizes her genre. To others however, her voice carries a mysterious familiarity that leaves one pondering about what category to place her in. In the winter of 2006, she spent several months touring Europe and living in Paris where she was able to familiarize herself with the growing hip hop culture that thrives in France. She returned in 2007 to graduate from San Diego State University with a BA degree in International Relations and a minor in French. Soon after, she immediately left the West Coast post-graduation ventured to New York to follow her dreams.
Venetta broke into the performance scene in both Brooklyn and Manhattan in the Spring of 08, singing in venues such as 5Spot, Sputnick, The Bowery Poetry Club, The Village Underground, S.O.B’s and the Times Square Art Center. After working with many different musicians, producers, and engineers, Venetta has a fresh new collection of songs on her EP entitled "Lovem & Leavem."
