Formed in November of 2007 out of the ashes of (national death metal band) Enter Self and (regional classic rock/metal band) Crossroads. Tym Walker (guitar & voice), Doug McDaniel (bass) and Greg Frye (drums) became the trio known as RENT VEIL. Walker (formerly of Enter Self & Daemonicide), McDaniel (formerly of Crossroads & Five Cent Anny) and Frye (formerly of Labyrinth & Enter Self) wrote four songs and entered into the studio to record their first demo - "Union" in February of 2008. This was also Walker's first attempt at singing. Many obstacles hindered the recording of this demo from beginning to end dragging out the process much longer than hoped. Through all of the conflict, the final product is what you are hearing now.
Through many trying times over the previous three years, Walker's vision, of a metal band with a positive message, finally came to life with this formation. So many influences inhabit the members of RENT VEIL that many of them shine through into the music they write. With the world in the burdened condition of today, RENT VEIL "knew" it was a requirement of them to create heavy music with a positive message. RENT VEIL walk a walk all their own, through ideas of non-conformity, being bold about their faith and never following - but living outside the box of - the "decrepit worldview". Writer and Publisher of "The South Knox-Seymour Times", David Grimes - spoke of Rent Veil as a band that is "inimitable", after seeing them perform.
From performing their first show in Nashville for Raging Storm Records Showcase during GMA week through performing their 5th and 6th shows during their first trip to Cornerstone, things have moved very quickly and in such an absolute direction that expecting the unexpected has become normal for RENT VEIL.
