About Me

I waited years for someone to tell me what my sound was, who I should be as a writer, as a singer. I got tired of waiting, and finally asked myself. I was 9 years old when I heard the song "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and The Pips, and thus my love affair with Soul music was born. As a teenager, I listened to Aretha Franklin sing "Spirit in the Dark" over, and over, and over again, and wished that I could find something in myself that she possessed. I began my professional singing career lured in by the grandeur and elegance of Jazz. Standards have a way transcending generations, allowing the old to reminisce and the new to discover their own meaning in what once was. Finally, I, like many of you, reluctantly admit that I love a good pop song. A song that is simple, a song that is fun, a song that lives inside a summer day, perfect for driving around with the windows rolled down, singing at the top of your lungs. My music...it's Soul, it's Jazz, and because I hope for nothing more than others to sing my songs at the top of their lungs, it's Pop.
