Pocket Caravan
Biography:
Pocket Caravan cross continents with ease, merging soaring Baltic melodies with driving Latin rhythms and virtuosic improvisations.
The ensemble began with British guitarist Peter Michaels’ search for a sound which would echo the historic route of the gypsies across the continents. After a chance meeting with Brazilian violinist Felipe Karam, they developed a diverse repertoire reflecting their shared influences. After performing as a duo for several years, the ensemble expanded to include other musicians from Brazil and other corners of the globe.
Pocket Caravan have held a residency at Camden’s Green Note Café, as well as performing at the Royal Albert Hall's ignite sessions and the National Theatre Foyer as well as across the UK. In 2008 they launched their debut album, Landscapes, at the Shunt Vaults.
They have a truly dynamic and original sound which mirrors the cultural melting pot of London.
Our debut album, Landscapes, is finally available!
It features fantastic guest musicians such as American accordionist Michael Ward Bergeman, vocalist Heidi Vogel and percussionist Adriano Adewale.
You can buy it at gigs, from our website www.pocketcaravan.co.uk and, from 25 August, on iTunes, Napster and Amazon downloads.
