About Me

The Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho (VPS Idaho) meets monthly to conduct Society business, socialize and enjoy vinyl music and related entertainment with other Society members and guests.Monthly meetings are held at the Modern Hotel and Bar (1314 Grove St.) in downtown Boise's Linen District on the fourth Wednesday of the month (7 to 10 p.m.). Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 22. Bring your records!Regular Meeting Agenda:7 to 7:30 p.m. — Social Gathering (mingling, buying/selling/trading, etc.)7:30 to 8 p.m. — Society Business/Guest Speaker(s)8 to 10 p.m. — Music Appreciation/Open Play.Proposed special events (still in the planning stage) include a record collecting road trip to The Yesteryear Shoppe in Nampa, Idaho, a Vinyl Preservation Showcase with historical and educational activities and a Boise record swap meet. The purpose of the Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho is to preserve our vinyl music heritage by fostering active, all inclusive community building amongst the passionately interested and curious to promote enjoyment and education relating to vinyl records, record collecting, record playing and all associated matters of analog musicology regardless of listening tastes. In other words, VPS Idaho is an independent social recreation enterprise dedicated to communal listening enjoyment. We also advocate the patronage of local, independent music stores who help support free-minded music lovers, including vinyl enthusiasts, in their communities. The Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho offers free, open membership on the local level, with a self-appointed Charter Member Committee that will oversee the Society for a period of one (1) year from its founding date, at which time Committee members will be subject to replacement or re-election by popular vote of all members. We also look to serve as a model for other groups that wish to establish a Vinyl Preservation Society in their own community, in hopes of one day organizing and uniting a network of vinyl enthusiasts across the United States and internationally. The Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho welcomes your input, feedback and inquiries.
