Alisha Romance (born on February 8, 1986 in the Netherlands) is an English R&B singer-songwriter.
Imagine the results of the combined influences of a youth spent listening to Hip Hop, Soul/Jazz and R&B while being witness to the emergence of the breathing Dance Fusion in the USA and the UK Garage scene across the sea.
Born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to South American parents, Romance found her musical talent early in life. Her interest in music woke when she accidentally got involved in a High School talent workshop where she left the crowd flabbergasted behind by spittin’ a mind-blowing “16 barâ€. Romance became known in High School and performed at several High School parties, local clubs and events. She used these opportunities to talk to the audience and harmonize with the recordings. But it wasn’t until her 16th birthday when her dad bought her an acoustic guitar. Romance could play a couple chords but it was her, two years younger brother, Nc, that managed to bring breathtaking melodies out of the beautifully crafted instrument.
After High School graduation, her mother, a mathsteacher, kept a protective eye on Romance and insisted her daughter finish the College of Tourism. Now heading to the United Kingdom for a college exchange project, Romance is becoming familiar with the UK Garage scene. Clubbing through the British underground spots woke the interest of Mc-ing. Back in the Netherlands Romance teamed up with her brother Nc and started laying down amazing acoustic covers, such as Chaka Khan’s- Ain’t Nobody and Craig David’s- Fill Me In. Romance received great compliments on her MySpace profile from several artists. Cousin, Nick “Brownman†Ali who is a formal trumpeter and currently on tour as the featuring soloist of Guru’s JazzMatazz, contacted Romance during the, The Hague Jazz Festival. Brownman invited both of his cousins for a meeting at the World Novotel Residence and provided them with great support, confidence and advice.
Strengthened by the promising feedback of audiences and listeners Romance started recording her own songs. Probably the most significant detail about Romance’s songwriting is, the way people can relate to it. Her lyrics are testimonials, they are real and full of soul.
Recently Romance recorded this demo, which is ready to bring a new breeze in the air.
