Born and raised in New York City, STOCKS was influenced at a very young age by jazz and soul music, and by age 13 started writing deeply insightful lyrics.
In 1994 Stocks was introduced to Death Row producer Sam Sneed in New York who quickly recognized Stocks writing talents, and brought him to LA to work on his own solo album. Stocks left Death Row with Dr Dre to help form Aftermath where he shared his talent by collaborating on various platinum hits, including several songs on Dr Dre’s up coming album.Stocks co-wrote platinum hits with Dr Dre including THE GRAMMY AWARD winning song “NO DIGGITY†Blackstreet. In May 1998, Stocks received BMI’s CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT in 1997 for the platinum album single “NO DIGGITY on the Blackstreet Album.Stocks has also collaborated with a rappers such as Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ, and Nature (The Firm), Scarface, (Hand On) & “Intro-Aftermath†Dr. Dre (Aftermath), Puppetmaster (Soul Assasin) and Zoom from the Bulworth movie soundtrack.
