About Me

Turkish-born soprano Bengi Mayone made her main stage debut under the baton of Maestro Anton Guadagno in 2002 with Palm Beach Opera as the First Noble Page in Tannhäuser. The following season Ms. Mayone made her main stage leading role debut as Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann with Julius Rudel conducting. As a member of Palm Beach Opera's Young Artist Program she appeared as Papagena in Papageno and Olga in The Merry Widow. Before moving to New York she performed the role of Adina in Amici Dell' Arte's production of L'Elisir D'Amore.In 2003 Ms. Mayone joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera and became the first Turkish opera singer ever to sing at the Met as a principal artist.She performed with the Cleveland Orchestra as Fifth Maid in their concert production of Elektra, which was aired as part of Cleveland Orchestra's local radio broadcast series on WCLV.In 2004, while continuing to be a part of the Met Roster, Ms. Mayone sung Gretel in Hansel and Gretel with Palm Beach Opera, Maestro Julius Rudel conducting.Most recently, in the summer of 2006, Ms. Mayone made her European debut in Belle-Ile-en-mer, France as Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Lyrique-En-Mer.Ms. Mayone attended Mimar Sinan State Conservatory in Istanbul, Turkey, and the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. She is a winner of the Palm Beach Atlantic National Vocal Competition, the Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition, and the Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition.
