When Mark Alan Cash was 8 years old, he got on the tour bus with his Dad, Tommy Cash. Then he got up on the stage that day, with his guitar, and sang to the crowd, just like he'd watched his daddy do. And maybe it was the lights, the applause, the overwhelming feeling that, "hey, I LIKE this", but whatever it was, the fever stuck. Just like Wade Hayes' sang, "This is the Life for Me" Mark realized, right then, that performing was the life he wanted. In the early 1980's, he started his own band and toured around the country music circuit playing venues with Michael Twitty (Conway's son), the (Merle) Haggard boys, Marty and Noel, along with various other artists. As time went on, Mark would perform as the opening act for legendary acts such as Charly Pride, Keith Whitley, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, as well as his father. He also appeared on the Ralph Emery show and the TNN Country Music Show "Nashville Now". Although his dad and his uncle, the legendary Johnny Cash, have definitely influenced his life via their music, their spirituality and their convictions, Mark has managed to spin his own unique flavor into his songwriting and performances. Ernest Tubb once wisingly told him, "Sing what you mean, and mean what you sing", and Mark does just that. Mark says: "Uncle Johnny was a world class sinner as well as a world class saint. His life long struggle with faith and his attempts to achieve grace only to backslide time and time again, remain a part of the great drama of his life and career". Mark has also had his share of battles with addictions and is still seeking to gain redemption through his current clean and sober living. He asks that you sit down and have a listen to his OWN style of strong lovin', hard livin', country music. Hope you enjoy these songs, there will be many more to come!
