BUILDING CASTLES OUT OF MATCHSTICKS
Bio:
a presentation in the artists own words:
She began this project in the Winter 2000 when she got her first personal computer. Since then she has musically documented and explored extraordinary events, her dreams, random thoughts and the simple pleasures and boredom of her everyday life.
Building Castles out of matchsticks cannot be lumped into a particular genre as no two songs, albums or pieces are alike in style, sound or emotional drive. Her tracks range widely from a chorus-refrain synth pop to crackled blips and skips of ambience and minimalism. Her experimentations are filled with analogue synthesis, organs, broken guitar strumming, pedal manipulations, found sounds, disjointed beats and barely there vocals telling secrets she wouldn't dare write.
or would she?

LOUISE FRASER
Bio:
Clasically trained since the age of 11, Louise has toured with bands from the age of 16. From her roots in a 27 piece jazz ensemble and successful London teen rock band, she has gone on to develop a unique vocal style that has been compared to artists like Imogen Heap and Liz Fraser (Cocteau Twins). Louise has released two solo singer songwriter albums, collaborated with musicians all over the world, and is lead singer for electronic dream pop outfit The Flir. Louise's latest release is Ghost Town, http://www.cdbaby.com/louisefraser2. A departure from her electronic mainstay, she expands her singer songwriter repertoire with a range of moving vocals, pretty harmonies, guitars, cello, piano, drums, percussion and a whole range of acoustic instruments eclectically arranged by producer Rich Avrach. This is what Billy Seppard, writer of Rogue Reviews (Rogue Radio) had to say: "Louise Fraser has found her departure angle from the world of techno in a guitar based album of wistful and perceptive songs about love and all its roadblocks and detours. Coming from a world of keyboards, it is apparent that Louise has kept up with string theory and kept close the lyrical simplicity that unlocks the doors of perception and waltzes into the heart. With guitar, cello, bass, drumkit, an occasional organ and even an accordion at the fore, Ms. Fraser skips and waltzes along in the little words that stick and the sound that clicks. Don't worry. She is still at home with the effects box, and the synth. There are plenty of sounds for seasoning in minutely organized particulars from the heart of the machine. This self-disclosed "techno chick" has found her departure angle in the layered Flirry of electronic gadgetry and chosen to take off into the wistful eternity of the deceptively simple. Ghost Town has the sweet expansive sound of rhythmic poetry served on a bed of sculpted acoustic rock, and the ethereal warmth of a voice that will give your subconscious a hug and an occasional noogie. If you will allow yourself to float into her universe and adjust to the light, the deeper dazzle of small sounds like stars will fill your adopted sky. The stories in these songs have two feet on the ground, but they are reaching for the heavens". Louise is currently living in Los Angeles where she is recording her third solo CD with legendary producer Don Smth. Watch this space for more details!

INDOFUNK
About the band
Satish started in New York as a trumpet player with Indian music in his blood and bebop chops in his fingers. Over the years, he found musicians perfectly suited for the Indian funk-jazz-jam music that he was developing, and began playing slide trumpet to achieve typical Indian gamakas (bends, slides, and other ornaments). Band members Bryon Hankins (bass), Bill Buchen (tablas), Lee Boice (guitars, sitar), Hary Ganglberger (drums), and Walter Fishbacher (keyboards) have played and recorded with the likes of Zakir Hussein, Bill Laswell, James "Blood" Ulmer, Antonio Hart, George Garzone, Leni Stern, Ravi Coltrane, Chico Freeman, and Rasheid Ali, to name but a few.
The present lineup has been stable for over 2 years, and Indofunk has 3 CDs on the shelves. In addition to standard drums, bass, guitar, and keyboards, Indofunk's instrumentation includes tablas and electric sitar, and frequent collaborators lend their talents on sarod, mridhangam, violin, and Indian vocals.
