Biography
Melissa Montgomery is a 23 year old singer/songwriter. She grew up in a small town outside of Oklahoma City. She has been singing and performing since she was nine years old. In 2002, she was the Local and State Winner(KKNG) Colgate Country Showdown and Horizon Award Winner at the Oklahoma Opry. In 2003, she was the OCMA Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the year. On January 31, 2004 Melissa made her national television debut as a contestant on CBS's Star Search. At just eighteen years old, Melissa was the winner of the preliminary round in the Adult Singer category. Star Search Judge, Naomi Judd, made the following comment about Melissa, "she's got commercial appeal!" Also that year she was chosen to perform for her graduating class in which she wrote her first song entitled "Someday".
With influences from her dad's love of classic rock she began writing her own material. Some of her first songs were written on a golf course while she was driving around on a beverage cart humming and jotting down lyrics on the back of a score sheet. Shortly after, she began recording radio and television commercial jingles with such companies as Chevrolet, Bank First, and Channel 43 in Oklahoma City all written by Ryan Bellgardt, who in return produced several of her first originals. From her original music she was recognized in Nashville by Mark Meckel and began working with Nathan Meckel(producer/band member of Upside of Envy)at the age of nineteen. Upside of Envy released their EP "Full Bloom" in March of 08. She is currently working on a solo project where she is bring back her country roots.
