Hagars Heart

In June of 1990, after years of reading God’s word, I asked Him to show me who I am in His word. I was seeking personal enlightenment. And I wanted to know what God wanted to show me about myself. I prayed believing He would answer my request.

James 1:5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 An indecisive man is unstable in all his ways..
This was my journey. When I opened my bible my eyes fell upon Ephesians 5:26.
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,Please read the whole chapter. It’s important. But what held my attention was the “water”. Then I was directed to the woman at the well.
John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
From here God sent me to a desert wilderness where He fed my soul and satisfied my thirst. And there I was, Hagar crying in the wilderness fearing the death of her child.I understood her heart and felt her pain. She was abandoned, uncovered, unprotected and cast out with nothing. Or so it appeared in the natural. But in the spiritual realm she was cast out with the Bread of life and Living Water.
Genesis 21:14-
14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
So, if you feel like you’re in a desolate wilderness, eat the Bread of Life and drink the Living Water. John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Genesis 21:17-20
17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. 19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. 20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
To all the single mothers who question God’s provision, remember Hagar. Even if you think God is not answering your prayer, He hears your children. Read it again. He heard the voice of the boy when the mother cried. But God does hear our prayers.
Psalm 77:1, I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. Job 22:27, Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows. Psalm 107:28. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
My bible states one day God will answer us before we call.
Isaiah 65:24-And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
How awesome is Jesus Christ? The Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour is worthy of all my Love and Praise now and forever. Amen
