Supertzar was formed in July 2005 after bassist Jimmie Earls placed an online ad looking for musicians to form a Black Sabbath tribute in the St. Louis area. Guitarist Tim Toth emailed Jimmie and the wheels started to roll. Tim's brothers Dan and Jimmy expressed interest in the project and soon a meeting was arranged to see where everyone stood. What resulted was a two hour impromptu jam of classic Sabbath tunes.
The band decided to concentrate on the Ozzy years of 1970-1978, not only placing emphasis on the music but the look as well. Over the next 18 months, Supertzar played some of the best venues in the St. Louis area including Rock Island, the Stratford Inn and Pop's.
In January 2007, the band decided to stop performing as bassist Jimmie Earls dealt with some health issues. Each member has gone on to work on new projects. Singer Dan Toth is currently the drummer for the Iron Maiden tribute band Maiden America, guitarist Tim Toth continues to write and record original music, bassist Jimmie Earls is making plans for his next band called Revenge, and drummer Jimmy Toth is currently the drummer for the Judas Priest tribute band Priest Unleashed.
Those who were lucky enough to witness a Supertzar performance still recall their experience with enthusiasm, anticipating the day that the Supertzar banner will once again fly high onstage.
