Michael

I'm Mikey (which is short for my real name Michael) and I'm from South Australia. I live right at the southernmost tip and I'm right near the sea. However, I'm also right in a valley at the foot of the Adelaide Hills so I live in a very forested area near the sea.I am currently a Postgraduate student at my University where I am working on a thesis about the empowerment of women through music and magic. This thesis will involve a novel I am writing entitled Chords In The Storm and a critical exegesis on fantasy literature with a musical element, most notably The Spellsong Cycle novels by L.E Modesitt Jr.. The other part of the exegesis will comprise a critical analysis of the life histories of a select group of female musicians whose contribution to the empowerment of female rock artists has been revolutionary and I will also be analysing the actual music itself.Because of recurring illness and battling severe depression, I became a basketcase for a while, but most of my family, some very good and special friends online and offline have helped pull me through, and I am relatively back to my old cheerful self. Thanks to my wonderful supervisor, Jeri Kroll and the best colleagues in the world at University, I have been granted extra time to complete my work, and I hope to go on to further academia or begin a career as a publisher, editor, or music reviewer, or even a librarian or teacher (if I can conquer my debilitating shyness).I live at home with my Mum and sister, looking after our father who has a degenerative illness and we have an adorable little puppy named Keasha who I love dearly because of her endearing loveable, affectionate, and nutty personality.Cheers, Mikey
