okay. Today's scary thought: One often meets one's destiny on the road taken to avoid it. (French proverb) No use trying to dodge life, folks. Meet 'er head on, smile on your face, song in your mouth. A couple snappy dance steps might not be out of place either..
so these are the demos, pretty much first drafts of stuff with the next iterations to be put up when I get them done. Or they are from live shows. Or, if it's Tuffy's stuff, it's from his cd, Runaway Scooter that I sing a lot of harmony on and play a little mandolin..I've put up a couple sets of drafts... and taken down a couple. If you are curious to hear how it all comes together, stay tuned. I'll warn you, I am slow about recording. Some of the stuff isn't mine but is from various projects I'm part of, like David Lightbourne or Tuffy Tanner. I got videoed singing in Turkey though. I'll post that if I can..
I may post some of the stuff I've done with John Lyon as part of Slanty Gart, like Young Hunting which is a traditional song, recorded in J Shogren's living room years ago, with John Lyon on fiddle and myself on mandolin. It starts out pretty ragged but eventually turns into a song. I have permission to post old stuff from Beatha Gan Fir, an Irish band I was in, The Lost Button String Band and the Centennial Jug Band, one of these days. I am, by the way, a founding member of L.O.L.A., the little old ladies of the apocalypse...
Other people I've recorded either vocals or mandolin or both for: David Lightbourne, Dan Brain, Mumbletypeg, the Neo-Nostaligics (sort of by accident..), Hogback (bootleg!), JShogren, Jennifer Blue, and Tuffy Tanner. I contributed a song to a Broadside Electric cd but it was a traditional song I learned somewhere and they learned from me... I think I learned it from John Van Orman back in the day. Yep. It was about Herring.
David Lightbourne with one of his old bands...
Me with the Burning Band, Center Camp at Burning Man 2008. I had so much fun with these folks!!!! Thanks Gonzo, Carbon, Pooch, and Tubatron! Oh yeah, and Spanky's...
