About Me

In the early '80s portion of my childhood, I became conscious of my natural inclination toward auditory perception: always listening before looking. I conducted regular experiments in tape manipulation and constructed numerous audio collages on cassette. My fascination with recorded music grew and I sought to intuitively analyze the sometimes-esoteric material offered to me by older relatives.
Driven to understand the formulation of modern music, as well as the mechanics of the production process, I investigated synthesizers and recording equipment at retail outlets. Gradually I procured tools of my own and the experimentation resumed. In the late '90s I studied music theory, completed an audio-engineering internship program at a commercial recording facility and bolstered my proficiency.
In subsequent years I explored some of my aspirations, by collaborating with various songwriters and - as the Artist Relations contact for a recording equipment manufacturer - advising a wide range of music-industry professionals in their own creative endeavors. Ib the fall of 2007 I made myself available to sincere artists, as an audio production adviser, in my hometown of Portland, Oregon.
Now, come "put some soul in my machines..."

For the record...

People often ask me to define the role of a record producer, or distinguish between an engineer and a producer.  It is totally understandable, as there are no clear, "textbook" definitions extant...
