ACID GROOVE

About Me

This band was created in the year 2000, August, when yound and stoned Nick Chitchyan met young and sober but naturally stoned Sasha. Nick was working as a lifeguard at a VNSO public pool and Sasha was just hanging around and breaking all the rules. Nick was jamming with a good friend Oleg and was looking for a lead gutarist, even though the first two years the band(called "dead end" at that time) was spending time playing covers of some heavy metal bands like Metallica, and other well known heavy metal bands. Nick and Sasha started to dislike the idea of the monodirectional music and Sasha, who was into Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Blues songs as well as some other stoned classic rock tunes, proposed the idea of "musical multidirectionalism". At that time Nick and Oleg were into "metal up your ass" kinda thing, but soon the band's direction forcefully changed when "Dead End" lost it's jamming place. After numerous acoustic jamming sessions in parks and apartments, the band started to actually write music; "I rememeber me and Nick smoking pot and actually 'swimming' in my room to Pink Floyd's 'Pigs (Three Different Kinds)' and dancing like crazy native americans under the colorful visuals of Led Zeppelin's DVDs", says Sasha, "and that were we got our influence from". Well as the time passed and "Dead End" started playing in a local printshop called "Preirie Press Inc." where Oleg (the "Syd Barret" of the band) was working at the time, but the printshop brought some heavy and dark times in the band..s experience. The tension was building up as Nick and Sasha started writing music and not wanting to play cover songs because of the fact that the idea was very narrow and limited. Nevertheless, Oleg kept on pushing the "metal up your ass" fact, but pretty soon another thing happened. "We were into experimentation with the tools that we had at the time", lectures Nick, and Sasha..s incredible ability to assemble electronic songs in the genres of trance and hip-hop gave rise to an undrground gangster rap crew, called "White Noise". The crew..s beats were a success at local house parties as well as Nick..s workplace. Even such freestylers like "Gifted" and "MC Brandon" actullay wanted to pull a record together, but for some reason it never happened, leaving the "White Noise" fans in devastation. Unfortunately, despite the tremendous amount of "fun times", the crew dispersed and "White Noise" became a relic of the past. But then one dull day of June 2004 Nick and Sasha were jamming in Hazeltine Park (a.k.a VNSO or "our second home") when a young man came up to our bench and started banging some simple beats on the wooden table and Nick and Sasha digged it. That young man was John who became the first official drummer of "Dead End". "First 9 jams were awesome" says Sasha, but after that came the bonding process and in which the band saw the fact that John was playing a different tune than the rest of the band and soon enough they found out that John's constant usage of heavy drugs pushed him away not only from the band but from the whole world and left him on the dark side of the moon. Eventually he was accepted in a rehabilitation program in the summer of 2005. After that Oleg moved away from the band too; lack of work and problems with his girlfriend have pushed him away as well, but Nick and Sasha kept on trying and kept on climbing the stairway to heaven, and arround ..05 New Years day Sasha met up with Nikita (the first singer of the band) who had a drummer friend named Simon. "Not quite surprisingly enough", says Nick, "that didn't work out either", and musical ideas split in differnet directions; Nick and Sasha were in the same kind of stuff but those guys were not, and after two month of jamming in the band that called itself "Pillbox", Simon quit the band because of "Nick's and Sasha's pride" as he recalls and the fact that he was "in too many bands". Well, as you can see the only ones left are Nick and Sasha, and they keep on rocking as they always did. "Life is long if you make it long", "we just never gave a fuck", and "all we got is Music and a fuckin.. awesome brotherhood." Years went by and then Nick moved to a house of thousand corpses and one sunny day, along with Stash, they wrote a song, amongst several others, which in turn, they practiced with Nick..s neighbour Raymond. They..re actually getting ready for the great gig in the sky as of now...
