Che

About Me

According to popular legend, Che (the band) fought the rock n roll wars from 1996-2003, recording a huge variety of rawkin' cuts, and playing many infamous late night musical gatherings around downtown Dublin. The 712,294 people known to have seen our heroes will remember some of the most anarchic, violent and oftentimes scary performances ever visited upon a paying audience. With epic songs about sexual deviancy, Josef Stalin, drug abuse and bus timetables, Che redefined the scope of contemporary rock n roll. There was also a few songs about food, and even one about chess. The bands debut E.P "Kings And Queens" sold over 300,000 copies in Turkmenistan alone, leading the countries now deceased dictator Turkmenbashi to ban Che from his territory, before the lads became a rival political force. Follow up E.P "All my friends are evil" sold almost 12,000,000 copies worldwide, and remains the biggest selling rock release ever in Namibia. After a calamatious world tour in 1999 (riots, death threats, stolen gear etc), our heroes repaired to the French Riviera to record their 6 track meisterwork "A.W.O.L". It remains the biggest selling mini-album of all time, with over 21,000,000 million units shifted to date. Sadly, years of excess, exploding drummers and heated debates on the true nature of this mortal coil took their toll on the frenetic foursome, leading to ruinious mutual recrimination, 12 law suits and the occasional airstrike. Millions died. Our heroes finally threw in the blood soaked communal towel in 2003, after Sean burned the studio to the ground, along with an adjacent pub. He was always difficult. The final release- "Marsupial" in 2002 hinted at a deeper, richer sound but it was to prove Ches last major salvo. Ronan went on to become manager of a prestigious cement factory in Hull; Ray became a Psychobilly with a big double bass and silly hair; Sean became an erotic dancer in Copenhagen, and later spent some time in prison; No one knows what happened to Derek. Every now and then, new tunes emerge from the ether.... These may indeed be Che, but without a video or live performance, no one will ever know for sure. This page is dedicated to the greatest unsigned band ever to emerge from the lower Lucan Road. ENJOY.
