Born 1982 in Rheinfelden, Malte Duerrschnabel studied Saxophone in Berlin, The Hague with Peter Weniger and John Ruocco and he also learned a lot visiting masterclasses with David Liebman, Hal Crook, John Hollenbeck, David Friedman, Gary Burton, Chris Potter, John Riley, Ralph Towner, Joey Baron, Phil Woods, Michael Brecker,...He was a member of the German national Youth Jazzorchestra (BuJazzo). His most important project is the Band Subtone and furthermore he loves being a sideman and playing Jazzstandards. In 2008 he obtained a guestprofessorship at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá for 4 months and he was awarded with the prize for the best instrumentalist at the international Jazzcompetition "Tremplin Jazz de Avignon" where the group "Subtone" also won the first prize of the jury and the first prize of the audience. In the past he had the honour to play with the following musicians:Al Porcino, Lalo Schifrin, John Ruocco, Peter Weniger, Ack van Rooyen, Sunday Night Orchestra, Adrian Mears, a.m.o. As a musician he performed in countries such as Southafrica, Azerbaidschan, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Namibia, Czeck Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Colombia, United States, Belgium, Holland, Turkey.
