I’ve been back in OZ for about a month and a bit now, after spending twelve amazing months on the other side of the world. England, shocking weather but a great country, so much to see and do and some awesome people! Oh yeah..and the English say us Aussies drink a lot? Spending one of my last days with Emily, Gav and Bonnie at Brighton beach on one of the rare HOT days was great.
Australia is in desperate need of some cheaper transport, when in Europe I was flying from England to Portugal for 50 pounds, to visit some mates selling timeshares. Spending 32 hours on a ferry from Greece to Venice, sleeping on the floor and then training it up to Czech and Hungary and back to Florence, where every time the train slows down it feels like you are going to fall off the bunk and all you are supplied with is a sad excuse for a pillow and a sheet. Buzzing around on scooters on a Greek Island for an entire day. Can’t forget travelling on a bus with lots of Aussies and Kiwis to the Oktoberfest in Munich, wicked time. That weekend we spoke about 20 different languages, can’t remember a word of any of them! Amsterdam, well you know what they say, what went on in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam…right? Spending Emily’s 19th in Brussels, eating delicious pasta and Hagendaaz Ice-Cream (the best Ice-cream ever!) Couldn’t tell you my favourite place, Spain is beautiful but the men, easily the sleaziest men in Europe. Again Italy’s countryside is gorgeous but there are way two many Americans in the cities. Portugal’s south-coast has some beautiful beaches. The underground is definitely a great invention, but people don’t get to realise how small London is, when you get out and walk around it’s crazy. Can’t forget my time in Newquay, loved every minute of it. Kelly and I would definitely call it our second home now! Wicked sunsets and beaches, although the water..fucking freezing! To put aside all rumours, a lot of the food in England is shit, mainly the food we were fed at live-in jobs because the chefs were too lazy! But in Europe, completely different, pasta, crepes, ice-cream, goulash, meatballs, tzatziki, olives, fetta cheese…so much more.
So yeah, back home…kind of, I couldn’t stay in Adelaide so I’ve come up to hot Darwin, working behind the bar at the Trailer Boat Club, a busy place on the beach with the best sunsets. It’s great up here, all you wanna do is relax and drink beer, just like all of the locals. I’ll be back in Adelaide in a month, when Deano, my boyfriend arrives from the UK!! Then we might go up to Queensland for a while, or Melbourne and up to Darwin again…it’s hard to settle back into reality after being away so long..
