Soressa

Soressa is currently collaborating with novelist Dennis E. Bolen and poet Evie Christie, adapting their text to unconventional soundscapes and song.Through her participation in the Vancouver Creative Music Institute she had the opportunity to perform improvised music with a handful of the greats: George Lewis, Mia Masaoka, François Houle, Sal Ferreras, Nicole Mitchell, and Giorgio Magnanensi. She has studied in Banff with Richard Armstrong and has collaborated and performed with VCMI colleagues in Vancouver and Toronto.Soressa has performed with many improvised music and interdisciplinary groups including Eye of Newt, Helsinki 8, Vancouver New Music’s community based ensembles and BODAC (Behind Open Doors Collective). As Artist in Residence at Vancouver Co-op Radio, she composed Soviet Canada 1935, a twenty-minute documentary-inflected sound piece, released on Audio Art Volume 6 (CRES Media Arts Committee compilation album) with support from the Canada Council for the Arts. Her electroacoustic compositions have been showcased at VIVO’s (Video In Video Out) Signal and Noise Festival.
