The BLUE Printze Vol.1

LIFE IS SHORT-DO SOMETHING

About Me

TRULYThe World's On Hard!....................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ .............Hailing from RI, (by-way-of Atlanta, Georgia) comes an artist who amongst a number of many peers (industry & otherwise) that's truly one of the last of the mohicans of the sonic/euphonic stenches we know as "funk". bassist/multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Blue has developed a well known reputation within the underground music scene in ATL and beyond. Some time ago in the mid 90's Blue performed as a part of one of ATL's premiere funk/hip-hop bands Urban Grind, eventually moving on to the stellar funk ensemble known to many in the southeast region as Whild Peach. For those that know (or don't know), Whild Peach also happens to be the backing band of Outkast and the founding members of Whild Peach (David Whild & "Peach" - R.I.P) have contributed to a number of Outkast's most memorable songs (go to myspace.com/whildpeach). Outside of his affliation to the aformentioned, Blue happens to be a stellar artist in his own right with an ol' school sensibility to writing and recording -as evident when one takes a first listen to his debut release "THE BLUE PRINTZE VOL. 1". In the classic vein of Prince, Junie, Sly Stone, Stevie Wonder, D'Angelo (just a few out of a multitude of greats...), Blue handles practically of all the production duties himslef playing bass, drums, guitar, and keys as well as multi-tracking all of the vocals. The one man band term is almost an understatement when describing this particular artist's creactive process. His sound is very much rooted in the style of early Parliament/Funkadelic, 68-72 era Jackson 5, 78-87 era Prince (in his essential prime), Fishbone, and Cameo....(just to name a very limited few). Bootsy Collins, Cordell "Boogie" Mosson (Parliament/Funkadelic), Mark Adams (Slave), Jermaine Jackson are some of the direct influences in which Blue has drawn from to help mold his own unorthodox, individual, and unique style. Listening to his recordings are a true testament of this unique artist's brilliance and willingness to step outside of the box....all in a valiant effort to keep the preservation of the true and living funk! "Funk"....a dying artform within today's fast paced, everchanging musical trends. You get a rare glimpse into the mindset of Blue who shamelessly pulls no punches in the "stank department". The recordings are dark and brooding at times, hookless and without "so-called" proper form at others. Like his fellow sister in funk "Michelle Johnson" (better know to the world as Meshell Ndegocello), Blue is a risktaker in the highest caliber who pays no mind to the average consumer's expectations and simple minded, drone-like preferences. Blue does his all to carry on Dr. Funkenstein's legacy of freeing minds so that many asses could follow and judging upon the first listen of THE BLUE PRINTZE VOL. 1 , he displays the right kind of bravado and unheralded courage in keeping the funk alive and in your face! Evolutionary music is lasting music and what Blues does sonically speaks volumes in carving out a path towards longevity. This is timeless music....this is music for the thinking man and woman.....this is music for the open mind....music with no boundaries. The time is ripe for the world to have a much needed funk resurgence and be it the generation of yesteryear, the present, or the future - this opus will be an album of importance....an album that goes against the grain as being a credible and dominat force with the music realm at large. Presenting to you..... "THE BLUE PRINTZE VOL. 1". --Jrod Indigo
