About Me

we're based in Zurich, switzerland, 30 years of age or older and we play music with instruments. surprise surprise. we've been doing this more or less straight since 1992 with changing names and line ups, but hey!, who cares about the past, right? we're into music both active and passive, d.i.y. culture, society, swimming naked, photography, politics and good weather. bad weather rules ok, too.

"Save/Cancel" in the ears and eyes of Collective Zine (UK) I first heard these guys some time ago on a comp tape, and was very keen to hear them a bit more. For some reason, it's taken me ages to do so, but it has proven to be worth the wait. The Rabbit Theory are a Swiss emo band (Swissmo), with a sound that makes nice uses of elements of that you'll hear in bands such as Yaphet Kotto and Off Minor, without being perhaps quite as harsh as that might suggest. The tuneage is mostly melodic, and the vocals, whilst desperate, are not your full on screams and wails that you might normally associate with the genre, tending more to be urgently spoken and hoarsely shouted. The dual guitars twist their way around each other, sometimes jazzy and sometimes finding groove. Again if they were harsher or more intense in these respects you might be able to compare it to something such as Republic of Freedom Fighters, but the Rabbit Theory ease off some of the wilder aspects of this kind of sound. None of that is a bad thing at all, it's nice to hear a band getting all worked up without getting too in your face. The production is perhaps a little thin, which maybe contributes to the less frenzied feel I get from the music.
Overall this is a really good album and the best emo record from continental Europe since the Brito LP. Definitely check them out, and hopefully they'll make it over to the UK for some gigs later this year. ("Recommended", Andy Malcolm, 20.5.09, collective-zine.co.uk)
"Pick Three Get The Whole Scene Plus One"-Split 7" in the ears and eyes of Hartboiled Fanzine Nicht ohne Grund lautet der Untertitel dieser 4-way-split 7" 'Pick Three, Get The Whole Scene Plus One', denn es ist in der Tat nichts anderes als 4 der aktivsten Züricher Screamo/Posthardcore-Bands gebündelt auf einer Platte. Prima Idee, btw.

"save/cancel" in the ears and eyes of Hartboiled Fanzine Auf dem hauseigenen Label erschienenes Follow-Up zu ihrem großartigen Debüt.

"save/cancel" in the ears and eyes of Yellow Is The New Pink (...) I like the sharp, clean sound of the guitars and the warmth of the overall production. The songs got good dynamics and a lot of rhythmic variation. Vocals are nice and good, political lyrics. I hope they won’t get sued for the funny sample at the beginning of “pew! pew! laserguns!”. Both, cds and vinyl, are limited and hand numbered, come with nice artwork and have lyrics sheets. What else can you ask for? If screamo then The Rabbit Theory. Better than all this shit that made me not listen to screamo any more.
