About Me

GANGSTA's BiOGRAPHY:
“Gangsta, Gangsta!” that’s what they’ve been yelling every since the debut of a hit single titled “Homeboy.” In 1997, Gangsta was one half of the duo, The Comrads. After being signed by Mack 10 to a production deal, The Comrads released a self-titled debut through Scotti Bros. Records that launched the street anthem, “you can take the boy out the ‘hood but you can’t take the hood out the homeboy!” It was songs like that, which made an impression both on the radio with their infectious hooks and in the streets with their stylish “ghetto fabulous” persona. Gangsta’s image seeped into the theater as well, making his debut appearance in the cable TV staple, Thicker Than Water and once again to include Madonna’s, The Next Best Thing.
During the last few years, Gangsta has kept at his craft of making beats and rhymes that tell-the-tale. In fact, Gangsta wrote and produced some eighty percent of The Comrad’s debut album and their Hoo Bangin’/Priority follow-up Wake Up and Ball. Adding to Gangsta’s repertoire are appearances and pennings that complete his roots. Beginning with “Hoo Bangin’ (WSCG Style) on the Westside Connection’s debut Bow Down; “Best Hand” on Master P’s West Coast Bad Boyz II; “Thug Niggas” f/Mack 10 on the Romeo Must Die Soundtrack; “Mack 10/Mack 10” on Mack 10’s Based On A True Story; “My Heat” written for Snoop Dogg on Super Producer, Easy Moe Bee’s, Odyssey Compilation; as well as, the N.W.A remake “Grand Finale” on the, In The Beginning compilation-both on Priority Records. Matter-of-fact, Gangsta penned the double entendre “I’m Dope” for Mack 10 which appeared on Mack’s Bang or Ball album. Notably, Gangsta was also a featured guest on “The Gutter Shit” from Ice Cube’s War and Peace Volume II, The Peace Disc. And Most recently, Gangsta made a powerful guest appearance on WC’s latest Ghetto Heisman release titled, “…Take A Trip”.
Well, it’s now 2003 and Gangsta has grown-up. When pressed on the subject of growth and change he firmly shoots, “Penitentiary Chances was put together by Gangsta; Gangsta’s way, real life gangsta stories!”
The album, Gangsta is referring to PENITENTIARY CHANCES, is his third album but ultimately his most important.
Penitentiary Chances features production by Sir Jinx, Young Tre, Rhythm D., Suede and Gangsta himself. In fact, Gangsta boasts, “I went all out putting this together, I think every artist has a masterpiece, this is mine!” Lending support to the production heavy hitters, Gangsta has enlisted his Westside Connection affiliates, Ice Cube and WC. The Single, “Big Boys” featuring Ice Cube and Butch Cassidy makes its debut in the Ice Cube “Friday After Next” movie. Also servin’ time on Penitentiary Chances, the infamous crooner, Christopher Williams, Tha Eastsidaz, CJ Mac, Jayo Felony, Kokane, C-Bo and Too $hort. If you’ve ever taken the risk of a lifetime, you’ve probably taken a Penitentiary Chance, and if it pays off, that’s the difference between success and a sentence.
