About Me

"Hood Life Money" is the DC Metropolitan’s most anticipated rap group, packing houses all up and down the East Coast. Hood Life Money isn’t just a hip hop group! It is a company, HLM Records, that makes good music and provides a positive role model for the community.Formed in 1997, Hood Life Money" a Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area based group, consisting of four artists aspiring to rise through their ghetto realities. The members include three rappers and one singer: Face-A-Lini, G-BoutMoney, Mr. Mook and Jaymo respectively. Members have spent several years making a name for them on the local scene. Along with their individual successes, they also acquired recognition for wearing and representing a unique symbol, the OHM, which stands for "DIVINE POWER THROUGH WORDS AND SOUNDS, THE ONE SOUND THAT CREATED ALL".Locally, the group gained recognition and support from hosting local showcases and open mic nights at a former nightclub in Capitol Heights, Md, "The Spot." Regionally, Hood Life Money has gained fame from numerous talent and open mic showcases along the East Coast (Detroit, Atlanta, Northern Va, Toronto, Canada..etc). Major performances include: D.C. Armory with Interscope/G-Unit recording artist "50 Cent’; Detroit Yout Festival with Def Jam artist "Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick"; Aqua Nightclub with Rap-a-lot artist "Yukmouth"; D.C. Tunnel Nightclub "Ruff Ryder’s Industry Party’ hosted by Swizz Beats; Toronto, Canada Caribbean Festival, "Carabana"; and Coppin State University in Baltimore, Md with Arista recording artist "Cee-lo". Most recently, performing at the "Mid-Summer Truce Lean Back Jam" appearing with Fat Joe and the Terror Squad at the D.C. Tunnel Nightclub.In September 2000, Hood Life Money dropped their debut album "Hood Scenes", which sold over 10,000 copies. "Hood Scenes" was one of the hottest albums of the New Millennium coming from the D.C. Metropolitan Area. An album release party was held at the D.C. Tunnel Nightclub and the metropolitan area fans came out in great numbers to show their support. "Hood Scenes" also sparked international interest with sales in Germany, China, Japan, and Switzerland.The Independence Day 2004 release of "A Day in the Life", their sophomore album, sparked a major explosion in the D.C. Metropolitan Area culminating with an Album Release Party at the Amazon Nightclub featuring the Lissen Band with a live performance by Hood Life Money. Shockwaves were felt around the world.
