Performers that want to be seen are common, but artists that need to be heard, like Familio, are rare. Familio has been murdering the underground rap scene in Waldorf, MD. A place where after 15’000 records sold out of the trunk, Familio has once again stepped their game up by recently expanding their endeavors into music retail, with B&F music, a place that was opened in their local mall in order for their growing fan base can have access to their music at all times.The group was formed in 2002. After each of them appeared on each others underground solo projects, they released their first project as a group, entitled The Product in 2003. It went on to sell more than more than 10’000 copies in Waldorf alone and was their first taste of underground success. They followed up in 2004 with The Résumé’. The album enjoyed even more success than it’s predecessor. With their third effort, Familio released The Takeover in April of 2005. Being their most successful project to date, it began to garner them attention outside of Southern Maryland.Familio is a regular performer at the Black Heritage Festival in Birmingham, AL, performing on the shows with Scarface, Ying Yang Twins, Ludacris, 8ball & MJG, City High and other big names. They have become a regular on WPGC 95.5. They have also been in the media with local television shows like The Scene and Wike World.The Fam has also proven to be savvy business men as well as talented artists. Aside from the 25’000+ sold from their trunks, they have achieved many successes in 2005. They opened several businesses to support their growing fan base. They opened B&F Music in the St. Charles Town Center in Waldorf, flea market stands in Baltimore and Hughesville, MD. They also opened a recording studio that also houses the home offices of Familio Records.
