Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious. There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness. Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place where it leads. A man should not strive to eliminate his complexes but to get into accord with them, for they are legitimately what directs his conduct in the world. Only passions, great passions, can elevate the soul to great things.
