About Me
Welcome to our humble abode behind Circus of Books off Santa Mo, across from the Starwood...We are the original Plungers, Trudie, Hellin, Mary and Trixie, not the band currently using our name. And this is our Pit.
..
The Plunger Pit was a one-room with kitchen apartment in a white-washed Hollywood apartment building across from Lillian's gay bar and sandwiched between Circus Adult Books and what was known as Vaseline Alley, the perfect location. We had no phone, a tiny b&w tv seldom looked at, and a cheap turntable, playing constantly. During the day, as we attempted some shut-eye, mexican music would be blaring out of the other apartments whose tenants we never really saw, but we loved them for never calling the cops on our infamous parties at night. Other residents of the building were X and Zolar X, and the nice guy across the hall who was subjected to homophobic graffiti on his door but still let us use his freezer when ours broke to store many cartons of melting ice-cream we had unloaded from an unsuspecting delivery truck in the alley.
People would just end up at the Plunger Pit, some came by in the day to find out what was happening in town that night. Bands from out of town would crash there when they couldn't afford the Tropicana, or just come by to visit or have a haircut. Some of the regulars were the Zeros, Dickies, Mumps, Deadboys, Terry "Dad", Rock Bottom, Jane Draino, Belinda, Blondie, Poshboy, Dutch, Joan Jett, Sheila, Bags, Weirdos, Screamers and Germs..and it only lasted probably less than 5 months, then we found the Canterbury, a bigger white apartment building, where we and everyone in the Masque scene moved in 1978. Anyone still living, come sign our scrapbook.
