I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I was born on a very lucky day, Sept. 13th, in a little town called Brooklyn, N.Y. I grew up on concrete & cobblestones, even the park was paved. I lived with my parents on the 6th floor of an apartment building; no grass; no yard; no dog. But being a city kid was fun. In the early years the stair case, hallways and elevator were our playground; sliding down 6 flights of stairs on my butt with the 10 or more kids my age who shared the same address; playing stick ball in the hallways; kickball in the massive old gothic lobby and playing practical jokes on other tenants while riding the elevator was the order of a day too cold, snowy or rainy to go outside. On a stormy day when the kids in the burbs were inside looking out and alone, we were playing with our friends in the warmth and safety of our building. I would not have traded that, well, except for growing up right here in Santa Barbara "paradise" CA, where I live now.It was a long road to get here. On the way, a 10 year layover on Long Island with my 1st husband and my two children. Another 10 year layover in Scottsdale, Arizona, where I met my 2nd husband, Doug, then another 10 year layover in Orange County, CA, and finally on to Santa Barbara, where I’ve been for the last 10 years, and where I’ve decided to end the 10 year plan and to stay; maybe forever.Doug and I are Santa Barbara’s “paving stone people,” very appropriate for me considering my background. As designers we create paving stone and natural stone installations for anything pavable. It is a dream career; being outside in perfect weather year-round; incredible views, mountains on one side the Pacific on the other; being able to contribute to the beauty of this spectacular city, and getting paid to do it is the icing on an already yummy cake. And my children and three grandkids nearby; is the cherry.
