About Me

I started off by doing a bit of DJing, but I really wanted to go into making my own music. Being unable to play any music other than drums, I began to wonder if any would be willing to listen to a guy playing drums for hours on end. The simple answer was "Fuck NO!!!!!" So I wanted to get making something that I would want to listen to, and if anyone else liked it, then that would be a big boost to me. Being a pauper, I saved a hell of a lot of money for some decent equipment, and so got myself a Korg Kaos Pad, Akai MPD24 Midi Controller and Ableton Live 6.0 (The Baby of Ableton Live 6....I cant afford that shit!). Once I began playing around with these I found I relished the chance to push myself into making something I'd be proud to put on here. I cut my teeth remixing Kiaroscuros "The Black & White Horizon" EP (http://www.myspace.com/kiaroscuro), initially rearranging guitar loops and adding drum loops & effects. I liked the overall product, but felt I went overboard with the samples of famous American icons (MLK, Nixon, Armstrong, Kennedy etc.) and felt the tracks could have been fine just as they were. This got me wanting to make my own music, albeit with some elements of collaborations. I began by myself making "Blackholedrum", which was predominantly cut-up drum loops and myself humming in the background. However, I knew I couldnt carry on doing just that (I wanted at LEAST a hint of melody) and so began searching for like-minded friends in order to collaborate with. As I have been friends with the guitarist of Kiaroscuro for most of my life, I asked if he could just jam for me, playing whatever he wanted (with just a SMALL idea here & there) and then I would take that and make some stuff up. I've done some (unofficial) remixes of others since then. including Iron & Wood, Tournesol, Let's Bitter Cinema and even, most recently, Thelonious Monk (which I hesitate to name a TUNE and more an ORDEAL!!!). I'm a cheeky bastard and, when I'm not making my own stuff (in a little creative rut so to speak), I'll nick a song from someone & anyone's Profile that's available for download. I'll let you know if I've done it, so BE WARNED!!!Myspace Layouts
