Who is Matt?
Well, I am. Let me tell you a little about myself.
What's up?
So I'm 21, I've got a car and a house, and I work from home. I wake up around 11, get out of bed around noon, then play around and program stuff until 3 or 4 in the morning. It's the best.
For a while I was working at an agency - but as the months passed, it was increasingly clear that I couldn't stay. It finally got to the point where I wasn't comfortable there anymore - so I left, much to the dismay of some of my friends. I was pretty dismayed too. It was my favorite job ever.
But now I'm a freelance interactive developer, programming flash on my own, for my own clients. Right now I'm doing a lot of work with my buddy Chad Kula - which means my projects will be a little more visible then they were at CMD - stay tuned for blog entries highlighting recent things I've worked on.
And yes, I still go to school. It's as tough as it ever was to pay attention to classes that are increasingly uninteresting or redundant - I usually manage to take at least one class that I like per term, but i've pretty much run myself out of the good ones at this point. I'll most likely graduate in a year and a bit.
Good to know:
Oh, and when I'm not working or sleeping, I'm having fun. This involves indulging a myriad of interests - reading, writing, listening to music, playing music, composing music, playing video games and computer games, playing Magic Cards (guilty pleasure), wandering around the internet, programming, hanging out with my friends (either from work, school, or the neighborhood I grew up in) and family.
I'm open-minded and I like to think about things - it's important to me to understand underlying reasons behind everything, especially opinions and beliefs that I hold. I'm contemptuous of the conservative mindset and all that it implies - I hate false dichotomies, but if I had to choose between describing myself as either conservative or liberal I would pick the latter. I am conscientiously non-conformist - I hate catching myself doing something 'because that's the way it's supposed to be done'. I hate rhetorical excuses - 'just because', 'when you're older', and 'do as I say not as I do'. I prefer freedom to security, insult to injury, and honesty to sensitivity - I hate censorship, stereotypes, expectations, politics, and blind patriotism. I prefer capitalism to socialism, democracy to communism, and anarchy to totalitarianism.
