I am here for Friends

About Me

MyHeritage : Family trees - Genealogy - Celebs - Collage - Morph
I seem to be a persistently transient state. I live, I laugh, I love as much as the next feller (and whatever the feminine equivalent 'feller' is) and at the end of the day after the sunday mornin' coming, I can smile and say that I've beat the devil and quoted Kris Kristofferson in the process.

My Interests

Theatre, education, punk(hardcore, old skool, and the likes) traveling, Spider-Man comic books, photography, collecting vinyls, skateboarding, getting by with a little help from my friends.

I'd like to meet:

People that like to have fun, and say as such. That way I can filter out all the other riff raff that hate fun.

Music:

Against Me, Mischief Brew, The Hold Steady, Wolf Parade, Rainer Maria, Grimple, Gorilla Biscuits, Dillinger Four, Ass Factor 4, KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, Jack off Jill, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Rilo Kiley, the Krum Bums . Johnny Cash and the rest of the Highwaymen, Tsunami Bomb, Dropkick Murphys,The Slits, Circle Jerks, The Clash, Modest Mouse,The Damned, Mates of State, Postal Service, Discharge, Buzzcocks,The Ramones, Sousxie and the Banshees, The Clits, Palomar, The Kickz, Tracy and the Plastics, The Vibrators, Whips and Furs, A Capital Affair(when they were around :( ..), Gang of Four, Devo, David Bowie, Motorhead, KISS, and any song about how good rock and roll is.

Movies:

It's a Wonderful Life is at the top of the list because Jimmy Stewart Is the man. Starship Troopers next in line though, for many reasons. and of course Fight Club, LOTR, anything with Molly Ringwald, Boondock Saints, Equilibrium, Boy and His Dog, Kevin Smith movies, Errol Morris docs, Tim Burton movies, Leon, Wizards, Wonderland, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Sin City, and anything else with Bruce Willis. OH OH and Will Ferrel, most everything he's in makes me laugh quite a bit.

Television:

The Daily Show is about all the TV I can handle. Too many commericials send me into a slightly less damaging Hulk-like rage.

Books:

1984, Frames of Mind, Intelligence Reframed, The Gods Themselves, A Different Kind of Teacher, Theatre of the Oppressed, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Other People's Children, Shame of a Nation, Anthem, Wheel of Time Series, The Other Wise Man, Terry Pratchet books, Lullaby and anything by Chuck Palaniuk, Kurt Vonegat, or Richard Feynman.

Heroes:

Spider-Man, Christopher Walken, Patrick Stewart, John Taylor Gatto, Howard Gardner, my parents.

My Blog

Blog worthy day of teaching...

So, one of my many, and yet not many enough, jobs involves teaching after school drama to some second and third graders at a private catholic school in grand ol' Skokie, IL. Today was one such day an...

Robert J. Guidry 11/15/35-11/01/04

I hate gin a little less now. Might be the quality of the gin. I'm just going off what was in the freezer at this point, and my roommates have slightly better tastes than my dad did. I had my first...

sounds of the impending morning...

Birds begin to wake and sing more steadily. The mice in the kitchen start to die down. Gypsy breathes heavily, but steadily pausing periodically to wince and chase the 'whatever' in her dreams. My c...

My thoughts on Canada

What's the deal with regrets...

Here's what I don't get.  Why is it so bad a thing to have regrets.  Too many times do I hear the phrase, "I have no regrets," or "life's too short for regrets," et al.  Not only do I t...
