after MANY years playing music together with various bands, and with various generes, we we have called it a nite. thank and may God bless you .In 1998, 2 friends with a love for extreme metal and an interest in sharing their christian faith -drummer mike poole and guitarist steve dunn-started to write and record what was then the beginings of the death metal project known as fleshkill. They soon recruited guitarist caleb coates, vocalist garry vincent, and bassist jon posey.
Fleshkill played many shows between the years of 2000-2003.as a band fleshkill recorded a few songs for a demo named 'One Christ'.Soon after gaining a slight reputation,a radio interview was set up. The bands music was played on then popular late night metal show ''the rusty cage, on college station KLSU.the song ''putrid remains'' was requested many times by local metal fans.
After a revolving door lineup, the band was solidified with new bassist josh guillbeau and guitarist matthew aguillar playing second guitar. with this lineup, the band went for a more decidedly metal-core sound blending the styles of embodyment-embrace the eternal era with the bloodthirst/gallery of suicide/gore obsessed era of cannibal corpse and the attitude of hardcore. with this style change came a name change to Among the Slain(www.myspace.com/amongtheslain).
After playing multiple shows with local and national bands , the band decided to yet again change their style to a more metal infused hardcore sound.
The year was 2004 and the band saw the departure of mike poole (who went on to join the thrash death metal band IDLH,along with another ex-fleshkill member caleb coates,www.myspace.com/idlhband) and saw the addition of ex-dead to life drummer austin smith.
the writing process went on. In 2005 the band changed their name again, this time to The Blindfolded Warroutine. TBWR was fortunate enough to share the stage with such bands as bloodlined calligraphy, Through the eyes of the dead, the classic struggle, torn apart by horses, winter solstice, as cities burn, showbread, 12 gauge valentine, Murphy's Law, and many many others.
2006 saw the band coming to an end. each member going his own way.
the blindfolded war routine was pretty much a memory,
Until in 2008 a phone call was made, passion was reignited, more phone calls
where made, a practice was had and new songs are being written....
So in a nutshell,-- with a long history dating back to '98,The Blindfolded WarRoutine is a metallic hardcore band from south La.
