About Me

Deep in the heart of creativity a new artist was created from the essence of sound and lyrics...The Rhapsodist! The Rhapsodist born Isaac M. Colon III was raised in South East DC and first began writing as a boy and was mentored in the art of poetry and performance by local poets. Once his skills were honed he entered the worlds of competitive poetry "Slams" where he dominated the competition and went on to represent his city in national competitions for years. In the heart of giving back Isaac went on to mentor youth as he was in the arts and still does. His journey as a music artist began with a band called Spazmadik where wrote songs as a vocalist. After getting mainstream attention the band broke up and Isaac took on an alter ego named after a one-man show that he performed at the DC Hip Hop Theater Festival. Looking for a new challenge as the Rhapsodist, Isaac hit the hip-hop scene with new flavor and originality. With the lyrical content of a poet and the performance art of a trained actor the Rhapsodist is a new breed of emcee. He has shared the stage with such acts as The Roots, Aaliyah, The Last Poets, Amiri Baraka, Nikki Giovanni, Common and Saul Williams. Rhapsodist is not your average performer with a nack for breaking boundaries and pushing the envelope. Hip Hop is in a state of emergency and its The Rhapsodist that will bring heat to the ice age of bubblegum rap. If your tired of what you hear on the radio...turn it off and check out the RHAPSODIST.
