Excerpts
"My mirror was next to the desk and something caught my attention in the corner of my eye. I turned and looked fully into the mirror, there it was, one single white feather amongst the grey ones on my right wing.
It was larger than the others, more solid, less fluffy, but still soft. I smiled, I liked it. It seemed prettier than the others, a bit of beauty connected to me. I looked up at my face; my eyelashes were like the feather I decided, full, long and pretty. I’d never liked anything about my physical self before and now in one evening there were two things.
With a skip I turned from the mirror and my homework - it could wait - and I jumped on my bed. I picked up my favourite book and lying on my stomach, legs waving in the air behind me, I began to read, the smile not leaving my face." - Chapter 2
