Retina Child Records was spawned in Los Angeles by film & television recording engineer, Bob Packo in 2007. The mission of RCR is to find promising talented rock bands that are trying to “break out†and help them reach larger audiences. The long-term goal is to eventually become a larger scale production company that can handle everything from producing the artist’s record, filming their music videos, and helping with promotional pictures and merchandise. ------------------------------------------------------------

Retina Child’s first project is starting with the rising Chicago based instrumental trio, The Alaya Conscious. Though the band is not signed to the label, RCR has agreed to finance their first EP entitled, Seventy One Percent, with the hopes of helping to budget their follow-up albums and music videos. The Seventy One Percent EP was written and recorded from spring to winter 2007. The product of countless hours, unrelenting scrutiny, and the loss of one member, the band decided to release the finished instrumental tracks in March 2008. The Alaya Conscious is currently writing new material as a trio and will be performing live this summer.RCR is armed with two of the leading talented engineers from LA’s music industry: Jason Mott from The Sound Factory in Hollywood, and Bill Mims from Sunset Sound in Hollywood. Some of Jason’s credits include Beck, Sean Lennon, Vincent & Mr. Green, Fantomas, Belle & Sabastian, and Wolfmother. Some of Bill’s credits include Audioslave, Silversun Pickups, The Thrills, Joe Cocker, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
